How To Prep Your Home

Tips to prepare for a smooth shoot

Modern luxury open floor plan interior with white round seating and panoramic windows in minimalist architectural style.
  • CLEAN SURFACES - Remove clutter and show clean countertops, tables, etc.
  • CLEAN FLOORS - Be sure your floors are cleaned and carpets are vacuumed
  • REMOVE PERSONAL ITEMS - This includes family photos, bathroom rugs, hand towels, trash cans, toiletries in the shower and bathroom, etc.
  • CHECK LIGHT BULBS - Make sure all light bulbs in your home are working and have matching color temperatures.
  • CLEAN MIRRORS & GLASS - Be sure to wipe down all mirrors and glass surfaces.
  • REMOVE SIGNS OF PETS - As a pet lover myself, many of us love our animals, but not everyone does. Be sure to hide anything indicating animals are in the home, including toys, food bowls, cat towers, etc.
  • LANDSCAPING - Everyone loves a clean yard so make sure your grass is mowed, leaves are picked up and any sign signage is removed.
  • PATIO/DECK- Umbrellas should be open and patio furniture should be clean and neatly displayed.
  • EXTRA TIP - I typically don't shoot garages (unless requested) or secondary closets so those can be a good place to hide extra belongings.

DAY OF SHOOT REMINDERS:

  • Turn on all of the lights
  • Turn off ceiling fans
  • Open blinds and curtains
  • Remove cars and trashcans from driveway
  • The property should be photo-ready when I arrive.
